Richard and Jane’s Warehouse Wedding

Back at the beginning of the summer the Cura team catered for the warehouse wedding reception of Richard and Jane; a young, creative couple living in East London. The couple had wanted a really relaxed and informal approach to their day – not a stiff collar or fascinator in sight! This fitted perfectly with the venue they had chosen to host their reception: a cool, warehouse-style conversion in the heart of Shoreditch. The newlyweds were both super relaxed and their wish was that their reception reflected this. There was definitely a laid back, fun atmosphere throughout.

As is customary for us when we have a new event to take care of, Rich, our Head Chef, really makes sure that enough time is invested beforehand to establish exactly what the couple wants. He had a number of meetings and phone calls to talk about the style of food that they had wanted on their warehouse wedding day; food that was personal to them and right for their reception. A little further down the line, they had a delicious menu drawn up based around street food-style service, with the meal served in flip open bio-friendly take-away boxes where guests could help themselves. The emphasis was on great tasting, hearty but healthy food served in an informal style, so a decision was made for a buffet extravaganza.

Flavoursome dishes were served, our favourites being; succulent, roasted chicken and sweet, caramelised sumac onions, a delicious baked aubergine arrabiatta, topped with baked mozzarella, fresh basil and toasted pine nuts, and a super healthy mixed leaf zesty salad with figs and toasted quinoa. All dishes were accompanied by freshly baked bread from none other than the wonderful E5 bakery and our home-made rosemary oil to dip into.

There was no doubt that a fun, festival vibe was achieved, where all the guests could wander, soak up the atmosphere and danced away in the Platform Bar. Having worked up a bit of an appetite later on in the evening, guests were served warm, pulled pork sliders (Rich’s own secret recipe, marinated and slow roasted for hours!) and to finish the night off – gooey chocolate brownies. It went down pretty well!
