When someone asks if you can be their chef for their wedding on Lake Como, the answer has to be a resounding YES, as these opportunities don’t come round very often. And they’re not normally in a €60m Villa either.

The conversation began and we went through all of the details; In essence, using the regions finest ingredients to deliver a meal of a lifetime in a setting that had to be seen to be believed. Not too much to ask then?! The meal was an all-day affair, as the Italians are famous for, with interspersed trips around the lake in beautiful teak paneled Riva vintage speedboats. Nik and Christina weren’t messing about, subsequently Director and Head Chef Rich flew out specially to make sure it was all personally taken care of.

A few days before the event, Rich packed everything he needed in a convoy that was to make it’s way through France, collect hand selected vineyard wines, and carry on its journey across the Alps to Lake Como. Rich landed in Milan, jumped in a Fiat 500 (when in Rome!), and met with the family in Moltrasio.

The next day Rich led the troops to the market and picked up the fresh ingredients needed for the next few days. Costoluto and San Marazono tomato’s fresh off the vine, the aromas filled the room! Swathes of fresh basil, oozing mozzarella’s and Venta Del Baron (arguably the world’s finest) extra virgin oil. This, was of course, just for the starter and the shopping continued for most of the day.

The wedding day, was simply stunning, the backdrop of the lake and surrounding mountains took everyone’s breath away. The bride and groom arrived and the celebrations lasted into the wee hours, as these occasions should. A company of full bellies, jovial laughter and one happy Bride and Groom.

“We found Cura at exactly the right time. After having major problems with our original wedding caterers and with Italy as the location we were really struggling. From the first conversation and subsequent face to face meeting with them I knew we had struck gold. Rich and his team were absolutely first class and I don’t think the wedding would have been anywhere near as amazing without their involvement. We didn’t have any wedding planners or assistance but Rich was more than happy to take on the roles of Catering Manager and Chef offering advice and generally being awesome. I think the fact that we were not worried about any aspect of the catering for the entire time is testament to how great Cura are. So good in fact that they are also going to be doing my brothers wedding! Thanks again Rich the feedback was extremely complementary”
